If that's how it happened, my heart would have been pounding when the gumballs filled the mirrors and I would have been thrilled to not have to deal with an unsafe acceleration ticket.
I don't think I would'a been giving any lip to the cop as he walked off. I wouldn't have said thank you, but I also wouldn't make him regret his decision to cut me a break.

I pulled out onto hwy and kicked it sideways a few years ago and a cop was way behind me. He caught up flashed his lights then kept going.
As said. Got stopped doing 100 in a 30 and even passed a car with solid yellow and he let me go.
