Beat me to it. Yes, the ubiquitous Small Block Chev is, well... ubiquitous. World's favorite (and for good reason) hot rod motor. The LS is about to claim that honor and, again, rightfully so. There is
some lineage, but to claim the "Small Block" is that old is kinda like claiming the same for the Harley V-Twin. There have been some changes over the years:
