Have you ever wondered how people lived when they got to the Outlet before their houses were constructed?
Some were able to make their own tents with the resources they brought with them, or some purchased them! Shown here is a group of people with tents and wagons to give them shelter until they were able to get houses built. Lumber was scarce in the area, and expensive. As a result, often times, the first houses built here were made of sod!


We all know about the iconic southernmost buoy in Key West, but did you know there’s a similar landmark at the northernmost point of the continental United States? That one is in Angle Inlet, Minnesota.
