I had a '53 Ford wagon with the 8BA flathead for a while. I learned (the hard way) that the push rod that runs the fuel pump off the cam can wear and the fuel pump slowly stops working. It's why a lot of them have electric fuel pumps.
Your truck could have the 255 Merc engine (Ford put it in "some" trucks - in the US. I don't know about Canadaland). Good on you if it does!
