I had a TR6, and a friend of mine had an MGB-GT, and we drove each other's cars once. He was blown away at the difference in performance between the TR and his MG. I know the TR had more cylinders, of course. I always liked his car, but yeah, I liked the TR better for sure. Dad had a Spitfire in the early 70s, and Mom had a brand new 1977 MGB when we lived in Destin, Florida, so I have always had a fondness for British sports cars.
