If a classic car's value is tied to matching numbers, good luck and find someone who understands the car and the game.
A couple of local guys swapped out the VIN and valuable options from a rare, neglected Camaro into a more reasonable example. The car was eventually sold. No idea how much disclosure took place then or since. Another local-ish, well established shop got a law enforcement visit after a disgruntled employee pulled the covers off an engine block restamping operation. Game over for that second generation restoration business and its owner--as it should be.
