Here is one of mine painted from a live model in about 30 minutes. You need to draw or paint what you see, not what you know. Sounds simple but it isn't. The tools you use don't matter much. When people say to an artist something like "you are so talented" they have no idea. There is probably some artistic ability that artists have but that doesn't get you very far. Like anything else you need to put in the thousands of hours practicing your craft to become good at it.
