8:31 R&P in 901 trans
Seeking advice: I have a 67 SWB 912 that I have placed a 300HP fuel injected, turbocharged Type I motor in it. I have changed the gearing to a 914 gear set. The Problem: this car rips through the gears and wants a 6th gear. What can I do to this 901 gearbox to better use the power behind it? The best solution I’ve come up with is to change the Ring and Pinion to an 8:31 R&P(from a 915 trans). Anyone had any experience with this?
Your thoughts and expertise would be greatly appreciated!! Other ideas?
