If it's not overfilled and not leaking from the breather plug, another way tranny fluid could get on TOP of the case is by flinging out through the clutch inspection opening up top. This would be indicative of an improperly installed mainshaft seal and would also be evident at the similar opening at the bottom of the case as well. Is your clutch getting wet?
