The 'back' of the tranny. I call it the back since that's where the 'end' cover or tail is.

The only real opening on top of the tranny is that breather hole. The other end of it (inside the case) is kinda shaped like a fountain pen; a tube cut diagonally. I forget which way the open side of the cut actually faces.

If the clutch is dry, then the area around the inspection holes will be dry to (yellow arrows).

Lastly, the red arrows point to the case gaskets. These can leak even when new, but it would not be a very significant amount of fluid loss.

So try to orientate the breather as depicted and see what happens.
