My father in law presented me with the P38 at their first big family gathering, a kind of "meet our new son in law" sort of an affair. I was the only gun enthusiast in the family, and he wanted me to have it.
When he handed it to me, one of his sisters exclaimed "Orv, I didn't know you had a gun!" (Gasp...)
My father in law replied "I got it from a German acquaintance at Anzio".
His sister replied "my, that was awfully nice of him".
