There is a timing chain cover issue on the 6 that is well documented. There have been transfer case issues and the PDK failure we had is a "known problem" but considered fairly rare from what I've read. Under warranty, Porsche just replaces the unit and doesn't do any diagnosis other than confirming it won't reset. Our was well maintained and on time. Based on my discussions with my indy, Macan's are considered fairly reliable. Maintenance is expensive if you don't DIY. I told my wife when we bought ours that I had enough old cars to work on and hers was going to be dealer or indy maintained. The recent 90k service with front shocks changed, water pump and PDK service was very expensive. I think Porsche's service intervals are a joke. We do oil at 5k not 10k and the PDK and diff service at 20k. Given my wife's driving habits, that could be another 5 years.

I'd spend some time on Rennlist or one of the Macan specific forums so you know what to look for.
