Most of the time (in my experience) it's a one-line or single sentence question. Sure, if it's a long complicated thing, I guess. Especially via text. At work it's usually a chat client. And I've typed out a question to a person via chat where I didn't feel reasonably certain that they were available, I then copy/paste that same chat into another or multiple other windows.
