A couple things that I tell people interested in fly fishing.
1. Most of my gear came from garage sales. Not particularly expensive although I have some good stuff.
2. Fly fishing isn't the esoteric zen art that it is made out to be. It is fish. They are dumb. And a river. Not rocket science.
3. Conclusion from 1 and 2: anyone can do it if they are interested.
