What is this sheet stuff on my floor (pic below)? It's black, sticky on one side, and has a fabric finish on the other. Any ideas why it's there? More importantly, do I need to replace the chunk I pulled up?
I'm working on my floor again. One reason is to fill a low spot that caused a vinyl plank to crack. The other reason is I reinstalled the old flooring when fixing a different low spot last year. Apparently the flooring is only designed to go down once. The flooring I reused started failing right away.
