What a miserable day for me.
They say we got 13" here. I don't believe it, maybe we got 8".
It is one of the worst kinds of snowfall for clearing the driveway. It's black asphalt, so it's typically a little warmer than the air if the sun has been shining. So we had a sunny day, then the snow came down and it got cold, down to 15 degrees.
I use a 2320 Kubota with a 6 foot blade on the back and clear 500 feet of driveway and some parking areas. So I scrape the snow off and it leaves wet pavement underneath, which freezes instantly as soon as it is exposed to the air. It's like trying to clear snow off of an ice rink. yeah, I need tire chains. The differential lock is engaged by stomping on it with my left heel, and the shuttle is on the right foot. After an hour of that, my legs are killing me.
I do the sidewalks with a POS MTD built "Troy Built" that I got at Lowes. I ran over a stick or something and sheared a shear pin with half the job left to do.
I hate fixing broken equipment in the snow when it's 15 degrees out.
