A Nissan Leaf is very affordable, but they use a CHAdeMO fast charger which is on the way out. The Level 2 charger plug works fine at home, but is a little slower, maybe 20 miles per hour. It also has a smaller range than many EVs.
You could always try Hertz as they are getting rid of thier EV fleet. 2023 Model 3 is around $24k. If you qualify for the IRA credit, that would take $4k off the top.
