I read a more in-depth story about what this guy did. He didn’t “ignore evacuation orders.” He prepped his house with fire retardant, set up sprinklers to keep key areas of his property wet, put a big pump in his pool that pumped through a 2 inch hose and hosed the place down. Then he left. He came back after the worst of the fire passed and put out some lingering flares in the neighborhood.
So he wasn’t some moron who “saved his house” because he defied orders, as the title implies. He was a pretty smart guy who prepped his house and gtfo.
