Im sure I have said this before here. There was a good period of my younger years, where my tool payments were more than my mortage and all my other home bills combined . I cant believe my wife put up with it . I drove ****ty cars, and had to budget my life very carefully as I was building a business and purchsing equipment .
My buds were all driving nice cars, and here I am rolling into work every day in a 75.00$ Volkswagen fox , with all my free money going to the snap on man .
Back in those days, there was no marketplace or online sellers, so you either bought new, or every once in a while, would get lucky and find a good deal used from someone you may have known in the biz . Now, its much easier
That being said, been 25+ years, and I am stil using that same tool box. Never had to replace a single drawer slide or lock yet . The paint is wearing off and its starting to show its age, but , Ill never sign on that dotted line again for a big dollar tool box .
They were crazy expensive when I bought way back then, now , they are just silly expensive . Young guys are putting down 20-40 k on a tool box .
Ill purchase second hand, repos, or trade ins if I ever need a new one again, but thats doubtful . Im now really only purchasing specialty tools .
