I have lived in both FL and CA. I enjoyed the weather in both. Now that I am older and the cold bothers me so much (and my wife even more), I am looking for a winter place where it is warm now as our activity level goes to crap in the winter. I almost feel like I am hibernating...and winter seems to go on forever. I like the CA climate better, but FL is my likely choice because it is closer to family (and taxes are lower).

It is 11F with a windchill of -2F in Asheville (vacation home) but at least no snow on the ground. I am glad the pipes did not freeze...and glad I am not in a tent like some. I have no ambition whatsoever to go out and work on storm damage/cleanup here. It may just have to wait for spring...as the mud piles on my drive and in my yard are frozen. Even the tree limbs are stuck/frozen to the ground. Unfortunately, it is pretty cold in much of Florida now as well.
