Back when Porsche was first road testing them in the US, they drove several Macans to the top of Pikes Peak. When they were ready to go down, not one of the Macans would start. They all had to be towed to the bottom, where they fired right up. They discovered the altitude compensation had a major flaw to fix. That is of course why manufacturers test the cars in real world conditions.
