If your battery is discharged to the point it won't activate the trunk release you will be charging for a looooong time through the cigarette lighter receptacle . I don't think it's designed to charge a discharged battery . It is designed to " top off and maintain " the battery .
The wire gauge is small so not much amperage flow . I know you are in a jamb and I hope it works for you . Good luck
