986 is 100% a lead acid, I’ve replaced a lot of those.
My wife's 2017 Macan came with a AGM battery. I called the dealership to get a price on a replacement. They wanted over 700 bucks, and that is not installed!

I bought a Interstate AGM battery for $260 bucks and had to use my OBD2 Autel reader to enter a part number, battery type (AGM or wet cell) serial number and amp hours. I used the old part number, I added one to the serial number, and the rest was easy.

I replaced the exact same battery in my 85 911, and only had to reset the clock for the time it took me to do the swap. No computer needed.
