Believe it or no, and I do, there's been rigorous study of Yogi's intellectuo/linguistic endowment. Nobody seems to be able to figure it out but the consensus so far is that his functioning in both capacities was superior.
"You can't hit and think at the same time."
This conclusion was rendered upon him when his manager with the Newark Bears in AAA in 1946 told him, "Yogi next time you're up, think about what you're doing." He then struck out in three pitches that were way out of the strike zone.
