Here is a shot, (bad phone pic, sorry) of a set of 84, 944 sport seats i had recovered in Perforated, German, "Champaign" leather, by Bud at Classic Nine. He recommended using a french seam, to make the seats a bit more user friendly, (apparently, if the welt cracks on a sport sear bolster, it can pinch on entry, or exit).
Used seats: $950
Leather and labor to make covers: $1700
Local talent to install covers: 300.
Very Comfy and not difficult to get in and out.
Bud was great to deal with, I'd do it again.

I put a black vinyl and corduroy Scheel seat in my flared 914 hot rod, after having a local upholstery shop cut vinyl clad holes in the sides for 3 inch harness and one in the bottom for a pair of 2 inch subs.
A potentially helpful bit of advice: have a drive in a similarly equipped car to see if "those" seats fit your torso, are reasonable for your intended use and comfortable, before you plumk down some serious change.
