No experience but I had a very nice D18 in the past and have an OM-21 currently. If the structure of the guitar is solid - meaning the neck joint and bracing are done correctly - a top shelf setup will get you so very very close. I would go for it. Guitarists are the most conservative and snobby bunch ever. (says the guy with a nice Martin!)
