My old boss did things right. He started his aerial photography business as a side business in 1947. He had a full time job at the CAA, later to become the FAA, after he got out of the US Air Force. He had joined the US Army Air Corps, and one day received the orders to change his uniform to a blue one.
In his words, he took "early retirement" at age 92, and he took his last flight as pilot in control on his 92nd birthday. At age 99, he was still driving a car, had 100% full cognitive brain. I called him and asked if he knew the phone number of the plumber he used. Instantly he told me the name and phone number of that plumber.
A few months later, he and his wife were watching a movie, and he did not care for it, so he kissed his wife goodnight, and walked upstairs to go to bed. When she was ready to go to bed, she found him dead. His heart had given out. No prolonged death in a hospital or nursing home.
I hope to retire from my aerial photo company at age 93 and make it to 100.
