In atheist circles this comes up all the time: agnostics are people that don't believe in God per se, but do believe there are higher powers in the universe - most of the framers of the Constitution were agnostics. Atheist don't believe in either dieties or higher powers, no heaven, hell, angels, Valkyries, nothing. I don't know how the universe was created and I'm comfortable with my ignorance.
People of various beliefs have a clear explanation for how the universe was created, and I don't see much use for it in their day-to-day lives. No one's skipping their Carrera tensioner updates because on the 6th day God created man, or the moon is in the 7th house and Jupiter's aligned with Mars.
