Firstly I used a feeler gauge on its own. Then I saw a method where you use a screwdriver to accurately back out 1mm. Was on the franny garage youtube.

Valve guides, I am not sure. Have no history on any rebuild unfortunately. I know it does not blow any smoke on startup or while driving. Even when leaving it for a month, zero smoke on startup.
