There are some real quality auto repair you tube channels out there .
Im at a point where I am trying to rise to the top once again . There was a time in my life, where I knew I was one of the best around for diag , and engine repairs , stuff like that . I constantly repaired stuff that came from the dealer and other shops un fixed .
Well, as my business grew, I had to wear a different hat, first managing 5 shop guys and counter help , then I fired everybody , bought a building in rurual Pa , and went for it . It almost bankrupted me ,so I had to put down the hustle for 20 some years, just plowing out as much service work as I possiblly could, to pay for the building , related bills and tools and equiment and get myself up on plane again .
Now , Im back. Trying to re educate myself and brush up on a lot of things . Cars sure have changed quite a bit in the last 30 years . Ive kept up pretty well, and still can repair 99.5% of what rolls through the door, but the techniques have changed quite a bit, and I often find myself struggling or having to blindly navigage my way through tougher compuer/component diagnosis .
Mostly , what I struggle with is network diagnosis, and problems where you need a 4 or more chanell lab scope and next level skills and understanding of how all that works , interpreting wave forms, digital signals, etc..
In the last month, I have learned easly a semesters worth of skills just by watching south main auto, scanner danner, super mairo diagnostics, and royal automotive just to name a few .
If you have any interest in watching how the pros blast their way through some tough diagnostic problems, these guys are all awesome, interesting and informative .
I really like the south main guy . He has a demeanor about him . Id hang out with that guy ! I think I enjoy his channell , most because he is also a rust belt mechanic . but he is enjoyable and relateable to watch and understand .
My bud still watches Scotty Kilmer.. I try not to ridicule him when he brings it up .
