Yes, it's real...
and on another note, unfortunately no photo.
Someone the other day posted that they'd had a new windshield installed on their boxster and since then their windshield wipers weren't working right (were running slow). Some guy asked "was it an OEM windshield or aftermarket?" which I thought was weird so I asked "does that matter". I got the following response.

Believe it or not, it can. I just had my Macan’s windshield replaced with domestic glass. The bottom of the windshield had a distracting distortion. But my wiper settings was whack out, all of the settings were considerably slower that they should have been. I spoke to my friend who is a Porsche Gold Level Technician. He said that he has seen all sorts of unusual issues when a windshield has been replaced with non-OEM glass at a non-dealership auto glass shop. He said that he had no good answer as to why this may occur. He said he usually recommends that the windshield and its calibration be performed at the dealership with OEM glass. The shop that I used removed the non-OEM glass and replaced it with OEM glass and recalibrated the sensors. Everything works fine now.

Now I'm wondering WTF he means about calibration of the wipers?
