A 3.0L Carrera uses the same crank as a 2.7 but has different cyl stud spacing and larger cylinder bores. You won’t be able to use the 2.7 cylinders or heads.

If you are rebuilding stock, a properly machined mag case should be ok.

There is an aluminum case from the early 2L 911’s, but those are harder to find, pricy, and need lots of machining to use in a 2.7.

A 3.0 or 3.2 can be a good option as mentioned, but they’ve gotten more expensive. And no guarantee you wouldn’t need to rebuild that too.
