I really enjoyed fly fishing when I was in Michigan because you're actually 'doing something' most of the time. Kayak fishing is not bad for the same reasons but can get boring. Last time I went fishing (bass) on a boat a few months ago I wanted to slice my jugular vein after an hour. The trip lasted 4 hours on a small lake. Brutally boring.
