The creation of your hood should be an "easy" project.
1. Form the shapes on your factory hood that you want for the "exits on the top surface" using a clay and or foam on an aluminum tape surface so you don't damage the hood. Then you just use plaster (wall plaster) then you bondo over that for the final finish, sanding and smoothing. Then paint everything smooth primer and give a light wet sanding. This will finish the outer surface.
2. Build a flange using sign-core board you can get at most sign shops (voter signs are made from it). at least 3 inches around the entire hood perimeter.
3. Using a modeling clay from your local hobby store (non-sulfur based). and aluminum tape, seal all the holes/seams on the underside of the hood.
4. Wax both sides 4/5 times each.

you're now ready to do 1 of 2 things. Make a single process hood creating a copy of the top surface and bottom surface and laminate those skins together or, create a mold of the top and bottom surface, then create your carbon parts in the mold (best option) and then laminate the 2 together.

Vacuum bagging will yield the best result.
let me know if you have process questions here.

Stoked to see the progress.
