About 6 years ago, I had a dyeing tree taken out in my yard. They chipped the trunk out good.
Three years later, on a warm spring day, I noticed something sticking out of the grass. All around the diameter of the roots of that tree were Morels. Some were large. I picked and ate them and the next year there were none.
The tree was a Chinese Elm that had survived the disease that took out most all elms.
