The few times I've been there in past decades, it seemed the part I knew was a small nucleus of what it is now. I graduated from Fresno H.S. about 65 years ago. The tule fog was scary. I got caught in it one time at night. I couldn't see two stripes of the center of the road ahead of the car, but I could look up and see the stars through the top of the windshield.

I never went to a school with AC. San Marcos, TX, Montgomery, AL and Oklahoma City get 100+ degrees most summers. I can remember sweat dripping from my nose as I filled out a test. We did not get a house with AC until I was in the 11th grade.
Now days, I have two cars with fantastic AC, and our house is cool. Outside work is done in the mornings.
