My "settled on" hunting knife, bought in mid 70's or so, the Shrade "Uncle Henry Golden Spike". Not sure of the steel, but guessing by the patina it developed, some kind of carbon steel. Sure did hold an edge well. On one long ago successful hunting trip with my buddy & his brothers, it field dressed 3 deer without a need to be resharpened. Think I paid around 30 1970's dollars for it. Still have it.
