Carried my yak down to a very low Ross lake reservoir with another North Cascades enthusiast named Karl Kaiyala. The trail is just over a mile, several hundred feet of elevation loss and pretty narrow, so much so that we took turns spotting each other.
We took 2 trips each- one with a pack, 2nd with a yak.
Banging my plywood yak off of trees or rocks is no bueno!
Spent the night several miles up lake, the muddy lake bottom was problematic at best.
No other crazy humans sighted during that adventure except in the parking lot and at the bottom of the haul road.
Karl is an amazing dude, several years older than I and qualified as a woodlands firefighter. He carried his yak AND his pack back up hill to the trail connection, had to be an 80 lb load at least.
Not me, I made two trips to that point.
