My folks planted Lima beans every year and I picked and shucked them. Besides that, my Mother didn't want them picked until they were huge...and mealy. The young tender ones were edible, but I couldn't eat the large ones.  |
Lots of things are better young/small. Peas, for one.
Favas are probably available now, in California. Next two months, for most of us. Buy a bunch, the final yield is poor compared to the pre-shucked pile.
