Helping someone move

Today I had the best and easiest experience of helping someone move.

We showed up in Enid, OK to help move my MIL into an assisted living facility. She has two grandkids, my brother and sister in law's kids got there early, and 90% of the work was done. I hauled her loveseat in my El Camino but the two boys (both in their 30s) loaded it up.

One of them worked in high school at a furniture store, and he did furniture moving for a living. He had very nice dollies for moving appliances, and we had no appliances to move!

Just her clothes, photos, TV and TV stand, and one dresser and some lamps and end tables. My strenuous part was carrying a 24 inch lamp that did not weigh 15 pounds, phew. I did play doorman to open the door for them to go in and out easier.

They even hooked up all the electronics! The Cable company is supposed to be there this afternoon to hook up her TV to cable, and hook up her WiFi router.

She is 92, and likely the only resident with an iPad, and she knows how to use it! She still sends email, and buys stuff on Amazon, and orders her prescriptions on line.

So my part was not very hard, and the "kids" did the lifting and real work. The only bad news is no beer and pizza!
