The Battle of Iwo Jima (February 19 – March 26, 1945) 🇺🇸
Hot sulfur baths—Located near the 3rd Marine Division water point on the southwest beach of Iwo Jima, this hole was originally dug as a foxhole for water distillation units. However, sulfur-rich water soon began seeping from the ground. The 3rd Engineering Battalion (Seabees) installed a gasoline pump and hose, allowing troops to take helmet baths.
