I know full well that if armed people were in my driveway, weapons drawn and shouting at me, my first instinct would not be to disarm myself in the hope they were actually police. I suspect my wife wouldn't do so either.
And no, I don't know what happened either.
I'm simply pointing out an alternative scenario where her actions might seem slightly more justifiable.

My current understanding from the NPR piece is that they were uniformed CHP officers in pursuit.
