I witnessed a hawk using a stick to hit a squirrel's nest once. I was amazed at how it was using that stick like a tool.
We have a holly tree in our front yard next to the driveway. I was working outside a while back and heard a commotion and looked up to see a hawk on the top of the holly tree and two mockingbirds were having a fit. Apparently, the mockingbirds had a nest and the hawk was right at it. The hawk saw me and screeched and I said, "Hey get outta here", and it took off with the mockingbirds in hot pursuit of it. I don't know if there were babies in the nest, I didn't see any carnage or anything.
