All's well that ends well!
Cap is off, parts through initial cleaning and (almost) ready for new races, bearings, seals, and rotors!
I appreciate all the comments, but the prize goes to @proporsche... I had never done front 930 bearings before, I assumed that with the nut welded on the cap, that was the best and proper way to remove them. But he was absolutely correct. Despite the nut and being fairly recessed into the hub, the dust cap DOES have a lip and I was able to get a small sacrificial screwdriver in the gap into the lip and start working the cap off. Thanks! (though I feel kind of stupid that the actual solution was so easy compared to welding or drilling or rivnuting)
