Fuel door cable on 1988 911 cabriolet
I am getting back into the 911 world with a inherited '88. This replaced one I had before but lost it to storm damage - tree fell on it.
Now for the new project - the first of many inquiries - The fuel door on this cab would not open as the pull handle needs a key and the family I got the car from had no idea where the key might be. I have pulled things apart only to find there is no cable attached to the fuel door catch. Now I need to remove the handle and get it replaced/re-keyed/ repaired.
Can anyone tell me how to remove the locking cable pull without tearing things up?
I have enough work to bring this project to street worthy condition without adding to the mess. (Yes, it is a mess - disassembled and forgotten for 6-8 years before I talked them out of it with the promise that I would give the widow a ride once it is back together).
Any assistance in getting this issue solved will be greatly appreciated.
