If you haven't watched the last scene of the final episode of Cheers recently, you should. Norm talks about heaven briefly and it's perfectly aligned with his character.
The fact that the final scene of that series is a deep dialogue between Sam and Norm speaks to his importance to the show.
He made a lot of people smile and laugh. That's a pretty great legacy.
