Two other things I recommend:
Take a boat out to Greenwich and see where the prime meridian is located separating West from East. You can see where they estimated it to be, marked by lines on the ground. Then the actual final version.
Then take the boat out to the Thames barriers, which is a flood control device. Nice boat ride and you are on the same route when going to Greenwich.
