I have a different slant on this than some.
Hate me if you want.
Love the car, but I HATE all their congenital defects, and if you don't know about them, well, you have your head in the sand!
From the very expensive problems (defects) as 20K repairs with their PDK, cylinder bore scoring,
and a plethora of smaller problems, it's just not a car from the used car market as the 911 sort of was.'
However, they came with a bunch of problems too.
Remember the pulled studs?
Cylinder coating failures? (too)
And lots of others like window regulators all breaking
DME?
Etc etc.
These were surmountable for the enthusiast .
But attending the never-ending classes of the right oil, cylinder, and case repairs for the newer Boxter engines is prohibitive.
Buying new and under warranty is all great, but you can't run fast enough to sell me these used, and the problems I have only touched on.
So what happens when the reputation proceeds?
It's always the money trail.
I will have to guess that there is no money to be made in the new sales??.
Believe me I tried hard to convince myself to buy a Cayman.
In the end I fell for the Toyota GR Supra, which is actually a BMW.
So far, their working history is pretty much bulletproof.
You are for sure allowed to disagree with any of this all you like
Carry on.
