Would love to know what they charge, Shaun.

A well setup balance stand should be able to repeatably send 1/2 of a small stick on weight to the bottom.

I use a piece of tape with old weights stuck to it to figure out the correct amount of balance weight. Stick the end of the tape to the top (light) side of the wheel and add weights to the tape strip until it is balanced. The amount of weight on the tape is what you need to add to the wheel.
Thanks MUCH for the input and tips, LJ!

REALLY appreciate it, sir!

FWIW.....I looked at some other less expensive balance stands, but in the end decided to get this one due to how important having balanced wheels are - when those are the only thing that connects you to the ground!

I rode two of my bikes this past week and one felt a little "bumpy" and the other smooth as silk. The smooth as silk one had brand new tires put on it when I bought it and I'm sure they were also balanced well.

I bought 2 pair of new tires earlier this year when Bridgestone started their rebate program. That program ends on June 1. I think I will go ahead and get another couple pair for some of my other bikes now that I'm learning how to change them myself.
