It can get expensive if you don't know how. It can get expensive and embarrassing if you think you do. It is satisfying if you push yourself just enough to get it done and don't destroy much.
When the old E was in my care I re-indexed the rear suspension to restore ride height, retrofitted pressure fed timing chain tensioner and replaced the shifter bushings. It was a learning experience. Thanks to Pelican, it was only a little painful.
